ProLiteracy is excited to watch the story of Cleo, the adult learner who was chosen for the adult literacy episode of Secret Lives of Americans. The episode, which airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT June 3 on Pivot TV, will follow Cleo as she prepares to tell her family her biggest secret: She never learned to read. We are especially proud because Cleo is a student from one of our ProLiteracy member organizations!
Even though Cleo struggled with low literacy her entire life, she has a steady job as a truck driver and has raised honor students. Her quick wit and ingenuity enabled her to hide her literacy issues for years. Many of our members submitted great stories of adult learners to be featured and we’d like to extend the opportunity for you to submit more. Send stories about your students to Michele Bellso at [email protected] and we will feature a few of them on our blog as well as share them during our Premiere Twitter Party. (Follow along that night with the hashtag #SecretLives.) Submit a Story We can’t wait to read and share all the wonderful, inspiring stories made possible through your work for adult literacy. If you do not receive Pivot TV in your viewing area, the episode will be available for streaming on the Secret Lives of Americans website on June 3.
