Emily Griffey, Executive Director
Emily is a graduate of Virginia Intermont College and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Art, with a concentration in Graphic Design, and a master's of science in Information Science, with a focus on Teen services in Public Libraries. Emily has nine years of experience working with children, teens, and adults as a Reference Librarian at Kingsport Public Library. She has also guest lectured for UT's School of Information Sciences Graphic Novels in School, Public, and Academic Libraries course. She believes in meeting students where they are: everyone is different and their learning experiences should be curated to a student's individual needs.
In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, video games, yoga, and spending time with her senior dog.

Karen Hallman, Program Director
Karen is a graduate of Virginia Tech. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development. She has worked with families and children for over ten years. She enjoys working with volunteers and adult literacy learners.
